Backend Engineer

We’re hiring backend engineers from early career to Staff levels. You’ll build and operate the services behind Opsin’s security platform, with scope and ownership calibrated to your experience. You’ll work across our platform and data plane, turning customer needs into reliable APIs, data workflows, and risk insights. You’ll take work end to end — from design and implementation through testing, deployment, observability, and production support — and help us keep the product fast, secure, and dependable as we grow.

Must-haves

• 3+ years building and operating production backend software (we’ll level based on experience)
• Strong system design skills — the key capability for this role — alongside backend fundamentals in APIs, data modeling, SQL, and cloud-based systems
• Experience owning software through delivery and production support
• A practical approach to testing, reliability, performance, and secure system design

Helpful experience

• Building data-intensive or enterprise software
• TypeScript, NestJS, Python, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies
• Cloud infrastructure, especially Azure, and modern CI/CD and observability practices
• Cybersecurity, data security, identity, permissions, or AI systems
• Using AI coding tools thoughtfully as a high leverage part of your engineering workflow
